You do not need the whole Taichung map to sing in North District. One circle does it. Put the centre on Taichung Park, No. 65, Sec. 1, Shuangshi Rd, and give it a ten-minute walking radius: two KTVs on Gongyuan Rd, one chain on Sanmin Rd, the lanes off Yizhong St and Sec. 3 Sanmin Rd for the after-party, Wuquan Rd for the close. A Sanmin Rd trunk bus from Taichung Station gets you here in about ten minutes; get off at Chungyo Department Store, No. 161, Sec. 3, Sanmin Rd, and you are at the rim of the circle.
Walk the line in order, not backwards — sing first, then eat, then massage. Rooms run on time slots, massage houses open late, and the bistros in the lanes sit in between exactly where they should.
The centre: Taichung Park, and why Gongyuan Rd
Gongyuan Rd runs along the east side of the park, and one short stretch holds two KTVs. 超級巨星自助式KTV 臺中公園店 (Superstar Self-Service KTV) at No. 195 has 3,700-plus reviews and a 4.4 rating — the most-reviewed rooms in the whole district. Across the road on the third floor of No. 182, Nature Style KTV-Park Store has 85 reviews and 4.2 stars. The two face each other over the traffic.
Same street, two billing logics. That is the thing to get straight at this stop.
Stop one: self-service versus standard rooms, and who belongs where
Superstar is self-service: fetch your own drinks and snacks, pay per head, no package to sign up for. Student groups of four to eight, anyone whose budget is fixed, anyone who decides at nine to sing two hours and leave — come here first. The downsides, plainly: the lobby wait at peak hours is long, the soundproofing is ordinary, and people who want to sing ballads in peace will not be happy.
Nature Style runs standard rooms, a little smaller. Eighty-five reviews is too thin a sample to lean on, so I file it as the backup: Superstar is full, you do not want to walk to Sanmin Rd, go up to the third floor.
Both venues’ student rates fall on weekday afternoons; the same room can cost twice as much on a Friday night as on a weekday afternoon. Exact prices and slots follow each venue’s posted list — ask on the phone whether the quote includes a minimum spend.
Stop two: Sec. 3 Sanmin Rd, Holiday KTV and its rating
Walk west from Gongyuan Rd to Sec. 3 Sanmin Rd. 好樂迪 三民店 KTV (Holiday KTV) at No. 136-7 has 2,000-plus reviews and a 4.1 rating — the lowest of the four. No need to avoid it, but know what you are buying: a stable chain room, invoices on request, suited to a small office gathering or anyone who needs a receipt. If you came for noise and cheap, Gongyuan Rd fits better.
National Taichung University of Science and Technology sits diagonally opposite at No. 129, Sec. 3, Sanmin Rd. During term, on weekday evenings after seven, rooms on this stretch are harder to get than on Gongyuan Rd.
梅花視聽卡拉ok on the third floor of No. 53, Sec. 1, Zhongqing Rd, is an older-crowd karaoke parlour — a hundred-odd reviews, 4.6 stars — outside this circle, and not a place a student group should wander into.
On booking: do not gamble
Friday and Saturday after 6 p.m. is peak across the district. Phone in that same afternoon; if it only occurs to you after eight, go queue in the lobby and take your chances. Summer and winter breaks, and the week before New Year’s Eve, book earlier still. Weekday afternoons hardly need a booking — walk in and there is a room.

Stop three: Yizhong St and the Sanmin lanes, the after-party line
By eleven, voices are gone and the circle folds toward Yizhong St. 八天的Club餐酒館酒吧, a bistro-bar on the second floor of No. 267 Yizhong St, carries a 5.0 rating but only 78 reviews — the shopping crowd downstairs, a different volume upstairs.
To eat while you drink, the lanes off Sec. 3 Sanmin Rd beat the main road: 谷奇娜餐酒館 KUCINA bistro at No. 7, Lane 164, has 300-plus reviews and 4.8 stars for Italian plates with wine; 昃串燒 at No. 14, Lane 201, has 370 reviews and 4.9 stars for the standard late-night pairing of skewers and beer. A little further north, 宵之月 居酒屋 at No. 40-8 Jinnan St has 700-plus reviews and 4.9 stars — the most-reviewed place on this after-party line, and a wait on Friday and Saturday without a booking.
If you have been drinking, do not ride. A cab arrives within three minutes inside the shopping district, and designated drivers work this area too. More names at North District bars and izakaya.
The closing stop: the Wuquan Rd massage belt
One in the morning, and the last stop on the circle is Wuquan Rd. 勁桑の元気按摩保養所 at No. 576, with 5,400 reviews and 4.9 stars, is the face of massage in North District. 足之樂養生會館 at No. 182-2 has 2,000 reviews and writes its price into its own name — two hours for NT$1,200, nothing to guess. 晶鑽足體養生會館 at No. 166 has 1,600 reviews and a 5.0 rating; if the first two have a queue, move here. For something at spa level, 泰晶殿皇家SPA莊園-三民會館 at No. 10, Sec. 3, Sanmin Rd, has 3,600 reviews and sits one price tier up.

Getting home
Late buses are sparse; a ride from Wuquan Rd back to Taichung Station takes under ten minutes. If your dorm is near campus, walking works — the circle’s radius was only ever ten minutes.
