Beitun KTV and Late Supper: The Night Around Junggong Road, in Three Transfers

QUICK ANSWER No need for downtown to sing near Junggong Road: Ling Xuan Hotpot KTV at No. 308, Junfu 9th Road and East Star Self-Service KTV at No. 177, Hefu Road are ten minutes apart on foot. Ten minutes north-west, the Dunfu Road corner has a shrimp-fishing KTV and massage; then Wenxin Road Section 4 has Holiday KTV plus Jiu Ju skewers; farthest, Zhongqing Road Section 2 has Super Star plus Wanban Bar. If you drink, cab or designated driver.

People living on the Chongde Road side of Beitun already know their singing map. People on the east side, around Junggong Road, are in a different situation — there is no shopping-strip signage here, and the rooms are hidden in the lanes of Junfu and Hefu. Without a map, you will not find them.

This piece draws that map: the starting station is on Junggong Road, then three transfers heading north-west, each stop farther than the last.

Starting station: Junggong Road, two rooms within ten minutes on foot

The rooms are not on Junggong Road itself; they are in the lanes on either side.

翎軒有鍋,KTV包廂 (Ling Xuan Hotpot, KTV Rooms) at No. 308, Junfu 9th Road is the family-group station. Hotpot with a private room, about 170 reviews, rated 4.2 — not a high score, and a small sample, but “parents and kids together, singing and eating at once” is something only this place does on Beitun’s east side. For an elders’ gathering, phone first to ask how many rooms they have.

東區之星自助式KTV (East Star Self-Service KTV) at No. 177, Hefu Road is five hundred metres from Ling Xuan, under ten minutes on foot. More than 2,100 reviews, rated 4.3, per-head pricing, drinks and snacks self-serve — groups of four to eight in their twenties look here first.

Rates are by time slot; posted prices apply. After seven on Friday and Saturday both are full, so phone in the afternoon; on weekday nights you can mostly walk in.

Places with the word “grooming” on the sign are not on this map.

Supper at the starting station: categories only

Coming out after singing, the area around the Junggong Road and Songzhu Road intersection turns into stir-fry, fried chicken and braised-snack stalls after dark, and along Songzhu Road towards Dongshan Road a few noodle shops stay open into the small hours. Stalls are not named here; go by what is open.

You can sing and eat at a stall, but there is nowhere to sit down for a drink. For a drink, transfer.

Transfer one: ten minutes north-west, the Dunfu Road corner

From the Junggong Road intersection, follow Songzhu Road north-west for about ten minutes to the Dunfu Road corner; MRT Beitun Main Station is within ten minutes on foot.

五星海鮮宴會釣蝦KTV (Five Star Seafood Banquet Shrimp-Fishing KTV) at No. 125, Dunfu East Street has more than 3,500 reviews and a 4.7, the second-highest review count on the whole line. Shrimp-fishing pond plus rooms plus seafood: a big group can fish from dusk into the night and then go in to sing. Two or three people wanting a quiet ballad session should not come.

The drinks are on the same block. 炬伙Torch (Ju Huo Torch) at No. 143, Dunfu Road has about 850 reviews and a 4.8, bistro style; ECT bistro #餐酒館#酒吧#無限歡唱#小酒館 (ECT bistro — bistro, bar, unlimited singing, small tavern) at No. 77, Dunfu 5th Street has about 170 reviews, and the name says everything about its position — the only option on the whole line where drinking and singing happen in the same room. It is small; phone ahead on Friday and Saturday.

Massage closes the night here too. POKE 柏閣足體養生會館-北屯全身推拿 (POKE Bo Ge Foot and Full-Body Massage, Beitun) at No. 95, Dunfu 2nd Street has more than 1,100 reviews and a 4.9; walk over after fishing and singing, and phone first after midnight to check they are still taking people.

The most complete stop on the line: singing, drinking and massage all within walking range.

Transfer two: Wenxin Road Section 4, the stop on the MRT

From the Dunfu Road corner, Songzhu Road runs south-west about five minutes to Wenxin Road Section 4, where MRT Wenxin Chongde Station is.

好樂迪KTV 文心店 (Holiday KTV, Wenxin) at No. 821 has more than 1,600 reviews and a 4.0. Chain rooms always sit around four; the reviews are about weekend waits and room condition, not the singing. If you need a receipt, or the first two stops are full, transfer here.

Across the road, 灸居串燒居酒屋—北屯店 寵物友善餐廳 (Jiu Ju Skewer Izakaya, Beitun — pet-friendly) on the first floor of No. 717 has more than 1,400 reviews and a 4.9, skewers and draught beer at NT$400 to NT$600 a head; 隱 日式居酒屋 — 需預約 (Yin Japanese Izakaya — reservation required) at No. 947 has about 90 reviews and a 4.9, and the name says booking is required, so do not turn up on a whim.

Close the night at 足悅養生會館 (Zu Yue Wellness) at No. 2, Dongshan Road Section 1, more than 1,100 reviews, rated 4.9, six hundred metres from Holiday.

Transfer three: Zhongqing Road Section 2, the farthest and the biggest

From Wenxin Road Section 4, turn north-west onto Zhongqing Road, about ten minutes to Section 2; from Junggong Road it is about twenty minutes. This end is far from the MRT; without a vehicle, take a cab.

超級巨星自助式KTV 經貿旗艦店 (Super Star Self-Service KTV, Jingmao Flagship) at No. 1023 has more than 5,300 reviews and a 4.6, the most-reviewed rooms in all of Beitun, per-head pricing. A few doors down, 頑板Bar串燒町頑板Bar串燒町 (Wanban Bar Skewer Town) at No. 1111 has more than 1,700 reviews and a 4.9, three minutes on foot — the closest singing-and-skewers pairing on the whole line.

Worth going this far? For groups of ten or more who need a big room, yes; for six or fewer, the Dunfu or Wenxin stops are enough.

The rooms and izakaya strip on the Chongde Road side were covered in Chongde Strip at Night, not repeated here.

Getting back: leave the car

Ling Xuan and Five Star Shrimp-Fishing are both in the lanes; always meet the designated driver on the main road. A cab from Dunfu or Wenxin Road Section 4 back to Junggong Road is NT$100-odd; from Zhongqing Road Section 2 it is about NT$200, on the meter.
