Dali’s night has one trunk line, and it is called Zhongxing Road Section 2.
Izakaya, KTV, foot massage — all three on the same street, street numbers running from the low hundreds to the six hundreds, walkable in half an hour. If you live in Dali, you do not pick a route in the evening; you pick a street number. Taiping is next door and a different story, told straight further down.
Trunk line: Zhongxing Road Section 2, by street number
The start is 新金足養生館 (Xin Jin Zu Wellness) on the second floor of No. 117 — about 540 reviews, rated 4.6. An hour of foot massage in Dali generally runs NT$100 to NT$200 less than downtown; posted rates apply.
No. 362 is 夜燒碳烤居酒屋(大里店) (Ye Shao Charcoal Izakaya, Dali), the most-reviewed place on this street with more than 1,560 reviews and a 4.6. Skewers and draught beer, NT$400 to NT$600 a head; on weekdays a table is easy before seven, on weekend nights you wait, so phone first.
No. 446-5 is 好樂迪KTV大里店 (Holiday KTV, Dali). More than 1,130 reviews and a rating of only 4.0 — chain KTVs on Google mostly sit around four, and the reviews are about room condition and weekend queues, not about the singing. The volume of reviews is what proves it carries Dali’s late night. Rooms are priced by time slot; posted rates apply.
足優足體養生館 (Zu You Foot Massage) at No. 684 closes the line — rated 4.7, about 85 reviews. If you come out of KTV near midnight and still want a massage, call ahead to check they are still taking people.
This line has exactly one problem: alcohol.
A draught beer at the izakaya and a walk to the KTV is fine. Going home afterwards, leave the car and call a designated driver or a taxi. Parking on Zhongxing Road Section 2 is hard to find at night anyway; driving in never made sense.
Branch line: Yonglong Road and Daming Road
If you would rather not squeeze onto the trunk line for a massage, head for Yonglong Road.
逸蓮居 經絡養生 (Yilianju Meridian Wellness) at No. 397 has about 740 reviews and a 4.9 — a wellness house where both the score and the volume hold up. On the same road, 洛克飛鏢club (Rock Darts Club) at No. 579 is one of the few places in Dali for a drink and a few rounds of darts: about 130 reviews, 4.4, small, and busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so expect to share a table.
脊霸分傳統整復推拿-刮痧 (Jiba Fen Traditional Bone-setting, Tuina and Gua Sha) at No. 356, Daming Road has more than 2,060 reviews, the highest count in all of Dali. Note that it is manipulation work, not the kind where you fall asleep on the table — go if you want to be stretched and realigned; if you want to relax, go back to the trunk line.
青山 足體按摩 (Qingshan Foot Massage) at No. 437, Defang South Road has about 1,010 reviews and a 4.6, the second-highest volume among Dali’s foot massage houses, five minutes or so by car from the trunk line.
Branch line: Guoguang Road Section 2, after the night run
Dali Sports Park sits at No. 710, Guoguang Road Section 2. It is lit at night, and eight to ten is peak time for runners.
Supper afterwards is towards Neixin Market: stir-fry, fried chicken, braised snacks and soy-milk shops after dark. Stalls are not named here; NT$200 to NT$300 fills one person. For a massage, 三沐足體養生館 (San Mu Foot Massage) is on the same Guoguang Road Section 2 at No. 186 — about 430 reviews, 4.2, which is on the low side for Dali’s wellness houses, so only if it is on your way.
On Renhua Road, Paraiso 帕拉伊索墨西哥餐酒 at No. 385 is rated 5.0 but has only about 57 reviews and few seats; 阿真小吃 (A-Zhen Snacks) at No. 517 is a karaoke-style eatery, an older crowd’s night — younger visitors should not expect much.
聊療貓Bar 療癒系身心靈咖啡廳 (Liao Liao Mao Bar) at No. 511, Tucheng Road, out towards Taiping, has about 850 reviews and a 5.0. It is the closest thing to a bar seat on this side of Dali, but it runs as a café, so it does not suit anyone planning to drink late.
Taiping: fewer choices, said plainly
Taiping has no trunk line like Zhongxing Road Section 2.
The high street is around Zhongshan Road and Taiping Road, and after dark it is fried chicken, braised snacks and noodle shops — no shop names listed here. Pinglin Forest Park is Taiping’s version of the sports park, with runners and walkers in the evening, and fewer places to eat around it than at Dali Sports Park.
For cocktails, or singing until the small hours, Taiping’s answer is the same as Dali’s: go downtown.
Connection: Highway 74
By car on Highway 74, the Dali and Taiping interchanges are ten to fifteen minutes from downtown, with the bar strips of Xitun and West District in range. Trunk buses run to Taichung Station; check posted last-bus times.
A late ride home from downtown to Dali is about NT$300 on the meter. Anyone who has been drinking takes a cab or a designated driver, no exceptions — Highway 74 is fast at night and not a road to gamble on after a drink.
For downtown’s late options, see the Taichung supper map; it connects to this line.
Who should come on purpose
Honestly, the Dali and Taiping night is not worth a trip from downtown for the drinking — one darts bar and one café-style bar, and the Dali bars and clubs list is short because that is the truth.
Massage is the reason to come. The district has a dense bench of wellness houses, prices below downtown, and review counts that hold up; Dali massage and spa has the full list. For people living in Dali or Taiping, the standard evening is one pass down the trunk line: skewers, singing, a foot massage, a ride home. The Dali district guide has the whole picture, and Dali KTV lists other rooms.
